About Marybeth
I purchased my Gammill Optimum Plus at International Quilt Expo 2004 which was held in The Hague – it was love at first stitch! I had my first workshops in machine quilting with Jan Wilder, Dorothy Stapelton, Beryl Cadman, and Diane Gaudynski. I attended the European Machine Quilters Expo Beara Retreat in Castletownbere, Ireland, in May of 2007, for a week of workshops with Sharon Schamber. In 2008 I attended a workshop in Witten, Germany with Irena Bluhm. In June 2009 I spent 4 days in workshops with Linda Taylor at EMQE, and in September 2009 participated in a 4-day Master Class with Noriko Endo at the 15th Carrefour European du Patchwork. I completed 3 days of workshops with Cathy Franks at EMQE June 2010. Since moving back to the United States, I have taken workshops with Dustin Farrell, June Colburn, Tracy Young, and Lyric Kinard, learning new techniques and just plain having fun!
In 2007 I took first place for longarm quilting at the European Quilt Championships for “Little Amsterdam,” a group quilt pieced by the North Sea Quilters, of which I am a founding partner. Ria Notenboom won the Novice - 2nd prize for "Rorii Miyajima", which I quilted in collaboration with Leslie Carol Taylor, in 2009. I won an Honorable Mention for Original Design for “Hortensia Hideaway” at the Cotton Patch Quilt Guild show in Watkinsville, Georgia, in 2010. And I most recently won Judge’s Choice (from Holice Turnbow) at the Georgia Quilt Show for “Blue Moon,” a collaboration quilt with Anita Heady.
